Privacy Policy

  • About this policy

    • Last updated 8 September 2026.
    • This policy covers CatamaranSite.com, YachtSite.com, SailboatSite.com and TrawlerSite.com, which are run by the same business from one catalogue of listings, and the CatamaranSite connector for AI assistants described below.
    • It sets out what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
    • To have any of it actioned — a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion — email webmaster@yachtsite.com. There is no form to fill in, and a person reads that address.

  • If you just visit

    • Our server keeps standard web logs: your IP address, your browser and operating system, which pages you asked for and when. We use them to run and secure the site and to diagnose faults.
    • We count page views and search impressions for each listing, so we can tell a seller how their boat is performing.

  • If you enquire, save a search, or ask for alerts

    • We collect what you type into the form: your name, email address, a phone number if you give one, and your message.
    • We use it to pass your enquiry to the seller or broker of that boat, to send the alerts you asked for, and to reply to you.
    • Your enquiry goes to the seller or broker of the boat you asked about — that is the point of it. Beyond that, we do not sell, rent or trade your contact details, and we do not pass them to anyone else.
    • We check enquiries automatically for spam and fraud before passing them on, because sellers were receiving scam messages. That check looks at the message and the sending details only.

  • If you advertise a boat

    • We collect the account details you register with, and everything you submit about the boat: specifications, description, photographs, video, location and asking price. We publish it, and we send you activity reports about your own listing.
    • Your contact details are shown to buyers only through the enquiry system, or where you have asked us to display them.
    • If you pay for a listing, the payment is taken by Stripe. Your card number never reaches our servers and we do not store it.

  • Comments on reference articles

    We collect what the comment form asks for, plus your IP address and browser string, to catch spam. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to look up a profile picture — see Automattic’s privacy policy.

  • AI assistants and the CatamaranSite connector

    • We publish a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector at https://www.catamaransite.com/wp-json/api/v1/mcp. It lets an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude search our published listings on your behalf and show them to you inside your conversation.
    • What it receives. Only the search criteria your assistant sends: builder, model, minimum and maximum asking price, minimum and maximum length, earliest and latest year built, minimum number of cabins, cruising region, sail or power, sort order, how many results to return, free text naming a boat, and the id of a listing to open or compare. That is the complete list of inputs; there are no others.
    • What it returns. Information already published on this website: builder, model, year, length, beam, draft, number of cabins and heads, the asking price where the seller has chosen to show one, where the boat lies, the description, photographs, and a link to the full listing. It never returns the price a boat sold for, and never an asking price a seller has asked us to withhold.
    • What it does not do. It does not create an account, set a cookie, or ask who you are. It has no field for a name, email address or phone number, so it cannot receive one. All four of its tools are read-only: nothing done through the connector can change, add or delete anything.
    • What we record. A short technical log of the most recent 40 requests — the time, the name of the tool called, and the assistant software’s own name, version and capabilities. We deliberately do not record the search criteria themselves, because those would amount to a log of what an individual buyer is looking for.
    • Your IP address is used only to rate-limit the endpoint: it is hashed, held in server memory for five minutes, and never written to our database.
    • If you follow a link from the connector to this website, the link is tagged so our analytics record the visit as having come from an AI assistant. From that point the rest of this policy applies as it would to any visit.

  • AI used inside our own systems

    • We use AI services from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google to help write listing descriptions, label and sort listing photographs, draft replies to enquiries for a human to review before sending, transcribe listing videos, and produce market reports. Listing content and enquiry text may be sent to those providers for those purposes.
    • We do not use them to make automated decisions about you, and a drafted reply is always reviewed by a person before it is sent.

  • Who else sees your information

    • We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the suppliers who make the site work, and only so they can do that job:
    • Sellers and brokers — your enquiry, so they can answer it.
    • SiteGround — website hosting. Amazon Web Services — listing photographs, and delivery of the email we send you, including alerts and newsletters.
    • Stripe — seller payments and billing. Twilio — SMS and WhatsApp notifications you have asked for.
    • Google Analytics and Google Search Console — audience and search measurement. Microsoft Clarity — anonymised page-use recordings, so we can fix layout and usability problems.
    • OpenAI, Anthropic and Google — the AI features above. DocuSeal — electronic signing, where a transaction needs it.
    • We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
    • We do not run advertising on these sites. There is no ad network, no advertising cookie and no interest-based targeting. Earlier versions of this policy described Google AdSense and DoubleClick; that has not been the case for some time and those sections have been removed.

  • How long we keep it

    • Page views and search impressions — deleted automatically after 90 days.
    • Connector request log — only the most recent 40 requests; older entries are overwritten. Connector rate-limit data — five minutes, in server memory only.
    • Email delivery log — about 30 days. Broken-link (404) log — about 7 days.
    • Enquiries, saved searches and alert subscriptions — kept while your listing or subscription is active, and afterwards as a record of the enquiry. Ask us and we will delete yours.
    • Listings — kept after a boat sells or is withdrawn, as a record of the market. Sold prices are never published.
    • Accounts — until you ask us to close them.

  • Your choices and controls

    • See what we hold. Email us and we will send you a copy.
    • Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it. Sellers can also edit their own listings directly.
    • Delete it. Ask, and we will delete your account, your enquiries and your subscriptions, keeping only what we are legally required to keep.
    • Stop the emails. Every alert and newsletter carries an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can also just tell us.
    • Stop the texts. Reply STOP to any message.
    • Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. We use them to keep you signed in and to remember preferences; blocking them will stop parts of the site working.
    • Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
    • Depending on where you live you may have further rights — access, portability, objection, or complaint to a regulator. We will honour those requests wherever you are, not only where the law compels us to.

  • Security and children

    • The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. Payment card details never reach our servers. Access to the administration area is restricted to the accounts that need it.
    • These sites are for people buying and selling boats and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

  • Advertising your boat with us

    Photographs, video, specifications and descriptions you upload to advertise a boat are published publicly, and may be reused by us to promote your listing and the marketplace — in newsletters, market reports and social posts. Buyers may use them in deciding whether to enquire.

  • Changes and contact

    • If we change how we use information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
