Terry Grover walks through a three-cabin Lagoon 42 in Clear Lake Shores — teak cockpit, downwind rig, and a haul-out look at the running gear.
Some boat tours leave you guessing about the parts that matter. This one doesn’t. Terry Grover takes viewers through Jewel, a 2018 Lagoon 42 lying in Clear Lake Shores, Texas — and then, unusually for a walkthrough video, follows it up with a haul-out segment so you can see the bottom, sail drives and props for yourself.
A three-cabin owner’s version
Jewel is the three-cabin owner’s layout, fully imported, US documented and tax paid. That configuration gives one full hull to the owner and two guest cabins to port, and the video makes the case for the arrangement well. The master berth is a walk-around design with the corners notched out more than halfway back, so the bed can genuinely be made from both sides — a small thing that matters every single morning aboard. Big hull windows and an overhead hatch pour light in, and there’s a TV, a second workstation and, as Terry points out repeatedly, storage: under the bed, on shelves, tucked into the vanity.
The owner’s head has an electric flush, a completely dry shower stall aft, generous vanity space, large port lights and an overhead hatch. A Splendide washer and dryer is aboard too.

On the guest side, the aft cabin gets a dry head while the forepeak cabin has a wet head. Both use manual toilets — which Terry frames as a feature rather than a compromise: handy insurance if you ever have an electrical problem.
Living space and the cockpit
The saloon shows off the Lagoon signature: double doors that slide back as two panes and tuck away, opening the interior to the cockpit for a genuinely airy feel. Large plate windows give both light and all-round visibility from the settee, and the galley includes a three-burner stove. A TV is fitted in the saloon as well.
Outside, the cockpit is teak-laid, with a custom teak table, lounge seating and a settee to one side. Cushions are described as being in perfect condition. There’s a hard top over the helm station, radar and a full set of electronics, plus full enclosures for both the helm and the aft cockpit (not fitted at the time of filming to keep things clean).

Rig, running gear and condition
She’s downwind rigged with a bowsprit and dedicated downwind winches on both sides for a code zero or asymmetrical spinnaker; the code zero is described as essentially a brand-new sail, and the rest of the wardrobe as immaculate. The bow netting has just been replaced. Out of the water at Southern Boat Works, the video shows Petit hard ablative bottom paint in good shape, sail drives, and folding props fitted with rope cutters.
