Step aboard Amihan and you’ll see why the Isla 40 has become one of the most talked-about cruising catamarans in its size range. Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design drew her to replace the popular Lucia 40, and she improves on it with a bright, open saloon, a well-organized galley, a comfortable cockpit, and good sightlines from the helm. She is the Maestro layout, with three cabins and three heads. The full owner’s hull gives you a private suite with an ensuite head and generous storage, and two guest cabins, each with its own head, occupy the opposite hull. She is a 2023 model year boat, completed by Fountaine Pajot in late 2022. She measures about 40 ft LOA with a 21 ft 8 in beam and a shallow 4 ft 1 in draft, so she can reach the Bahamas’ best anchorages. She carries 140 gallons of water and 80 gallons of diesel.

Amihan is set up for real off-grid living. A 1,600 W solar array on the arch feeds a 1,200 Ah Victron lithium bank through Victron MPPT controllers and DC-DC converters. A Zen 50 watermaker keeps the tanks full, and a Fischer Panda 5 kW generator with only 125 hours backs it all up. Comfort systems include a 16,000 BTU air conditioner in the saloon and a 10,000 BTU Vetus DC unit in the owner’s cabin, which runs quietly off the lithium bank at anchor. She also has a washer/dryer, hot water, an inverter/charger, and both 120 V and 220 V shore power inlets, so she is equally at home in a US marina or a Caribbean one. Starlink and a flat-screen TV in the saloon keep you connected wherever you drop the hook.

Twin 2023 Volvo Penta D1-30 diesels, at about 1,100 hours, drive Volvo S130-D saildrives with three-blade bronze folding props. The port saildrive was replaced under warranty in summer 2025, and the new unit carries its own remaining warranty coverage. Navigation is handled by Garmin electronics with displays at both the helm and the nav station, including chartplotter, radar, autopilot, AIS, VHF, and wind, depth, and speed instruments. An EPIRB and a liferaft are aboard.

Sail handling is simple for a couple or short-handed crew. All lines lead aft to Harken winches, including an electric winch, and she has 10 mm Dyneema halyards and a battened main with double reefs, a lazy bag, and lazy jacks. The sail inventory goes well beyond standard, with a furling genoa, a Code 0 flown from the bowsprit. The rigging was professionally inspected in October 2025, and every sail was inspected and repaired in September 2026.

Anchoring is a strong point. She carries an oversized 85 lb Mantus anchor with 200 ft of 3/8″ chain, a Mantus bridle, and a 1,000 W Quick AL3 windlass. On deck you’ll find a Flexiteak cockpit sole, cockpit table, cushions and shower, a swim ladder, cockpit speakers, and a 12 V domestic freezer in the cockpit that complements the galley oven and refrigeration. A 2025 Highfield 3.1 aluminum RIB rides on the davits, and a brand-new-in-box Tohatsu MFS20 EFI outboard is included.

This summer’s work means she’s ready to go: fresh bottom paint and antifouling on the props, a re-stitched and updated helm enclosure, and freshly serviced sails. She also comes with an extensive inventory of spares for the engines, rigging, and onboard systems.

Amihan has been privately owned and maintained, has never been chartered, and is US-flagged with US duty paid. Everything aboard is included in the sale. She is located in Deltaville, Virginia, and available for showings by appointment with the owner.
