S/V La Gota is a stunning example of the 1985 Morgan 43 Center Cockpit, a sailboat renowned for its capability as an offshore cruiser. Built by the prestigious Morgan Yachts in the United States, this robust vessel is designed by the talented Nelson Marek team and features a fiberglass hull with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder. The Morgan 43 Center Cockpit excels in combining Bluewater seaworthiness with the agility of a racer-cruiser without sacrificing comfort at sea.
Since acquiring S/V La Gota in November 2019, the current owners have embarked on an impressive journey. Starting from Miami in 2019, she has been sailed through the stunning landscapes of the Bahamas, ventured to Colombia, and cruised along the Central American coastline. This year from March through June she has been sailed from Guatemala-Mexico-Cuba-Bahamas-Jamaica-Honduras and is now back to Guatemala in the beautiful Rio Dulce.
The Morgan 43 CC is a comfortable layout with two sleeping cabins and two heads, making it an ideal choice for families or groups of friends seeking unforgettable sailing experiences. The beautiful teak woodwork with teak and holly floors throughout is in excellent condition. The layout includes a large aft master stateroom with a comfortable queen berth with full shower with tub and a Raritan marine toilet. The forward guest cabin has a cozy v-berth with private head with a Raritan marine toilet. The U-shaped galley is equipped with double sinks, a propane GSI two-burner stove with oven, two Sea Frost BD12 refrigerators and a water filtration system. The spacious salon can seat many and features a large teak table that folds on either side and a large TV for your entertainment. For your extra comfort there is a Vector VRP12K-HZ507MR air conditioning onboard as well as ten opening ports with large hatches throughout for ample ventilation.
S/V La Gota is powered by a well maintained 50hp Perkins 4.108M diesel engine with 4100 hours; new exhaust hoses have been recently installed. Her sails inventory consists of a mainsail in good condition, a roller furling headsail, a furling staysail in good condition and a spare storm jib in excellent condition. There are also a stack pack and lazy jacks included. Recently there have been some important upgrades made to the rigging: four new shrouds and six new chain plates, a new mainsail halyard and mast steps were installed. For navigation and safety, the S/V La Gota is equipped with a new Garmin chart plotter, a Furuno radar, a Raymarine autopilot, a Danforth compass, an ICOM VHF radio and an EPIRB.
This vessel is set up for cruising with a Spectra water maker to fill the available water capacity. There is a Westerbeke generator for your extra power needs, a Freedom inverter controller Xantrex Link and house and engine start batteries. The three solar panels are older and may need replacing. For ground tackle, she is equipped with an electric anchor windlass with control at the helm and bow. To help get you to shore there is also a Classic West Marine dinghy with a small outboard.
More recent upgrades on this vessel include a new anchor chain motor, a second anchor chain button on the steering column, and a small separation wall in the chain locker for different anchors. The vessel was hauled out and a new cutlass bearing was installed with new shaft nuts, and the bottom was painted with new anti-fouling.
S/V La Gota is a proven offshore cruiser, and her spacious interior and thoughtful design mean you can enjoy life at sea without sacrificing the comforts of home. With exceptional sailing performance and the necessary amenities for extended cruising, this Morgan 43 CC is ready to embark on new adventures. Don’t miss the opportunity to make this beautiful vessel your own!
