S/V Driftwood is a Georgetown, SC based 1998 PDQ 36 LRC (extended to 39') For Sale By Owner. This owner requires financial settlement only. No trades.
The PDQ 36 catamaran offers a superb blend of performance, comfort, and reliability. PDQ stands for Performance, Dependability, Quality or also Pretty Darn Quick. Renowned for their thoughtful Canadian engineering, these catamarans are celebrated for their robust construction using high-quality materials, spacious accommodations, and exceptional sailing capabilities. The PDQ 36 is highly regarded among liveaboard cruisers and bluewater sailors alike, thanks to its efficient sail plan, shallow draft (2’ 10”) enabling access to secluded anchorages, and wide beam for incredible stability both at sea and at rest.
Driftwood was modified to provide more reliability and better ride. Her original outboard engines were replaced with two Yanmar diesels with sail drives. The port 40 hp engine is the primary engine for motoring and the starboard 17 hp engine is used primarily for maneuvering or relaxed motoring. Besides the engine swap the transoms were extended 3 feet to improve both ride and performance. The hull extensions were professionally done using stern extensions from Seawind 1000XL aftermarket additions.
Driftwood is a well equipped cruiser with plenty of solar/batteries, a water maker (15 GPH), comfortable accommodations and ease of sailing (all lines run back to cockpit). She includes an easily removed 80% enclosure that minimizes exposure to weather (new side window isinglass). She includes a large (11 foot) RIB dingy powered by a 20 HP Honda outboard. Davits have remote controlled electric winches for convenient dingy loading. Also includes an installed StarLink Gen1 for connectivity.
