S/V Dreamer is an East Greenwich, RI based 2002 PDQ Antares 42 Antares For Sale By Owner. This owner requires financial settlement only. No trades.
Dreamer is a beautiful example of the PDQ Antares 42, which was produced for a couple years prior to being officially rebranded as the Antares 44. The PDQ Antares 42 includes all the same design features and exceptional build quality that have earned the Antares 44 a reputation as a robust bluewater cruising catamaran.
The PDQ Antares 42 (the precursor to the Antares 44, designed by Ted Clements/PDQ Yachts specifically for liveaboard bluewater cruising rather than the charter trade) is built around several unique, robust structural and engineering design choices.
Note: Forward of the port guest cabin is a workshop with shelves and drawers.

Key Construction & Structural Features
- Glassed Hull-to-Deck Joint: hull and deck fully glassed together into a single monocoque structure
- Solid Fiberglass Below the Waterline: solid fiberglass construction below the waterline transitioning to vacuum-bonded or cored composites above the waterline
- Integrated Skeg Protection & Heavy-Duty Rudder Heel Fittings: rudders protected by skegs and supported at the base by heavy heel fittings tied to welded rudder stops
- Watertight Collision Bulkheads: forepeak compartments with watertight bulkheads separating forward storage/anchor lockers from living quarters
- Shaft Drive Arrangement with Protected Props: traditional straight shaft drives with skeg/keel protection forward of the propellers and rudders
- Glassed-In Hardtop & Integrated Helm Enclosure: rigid, structural bimini integrated into the deck molding providing walking surface and solar capacity
- Convertible Layout Flexibility: forward cabin converts between berth and office/workshop space
- PDQ Antares engineered to avoid end-grain balsa coring in favor of high-grade synthetic closed-cell foam
- Vacuum-bagged with vinylester/epoxy resins throughout the deck and topsides
Why the No-Balsa Deck Build Matters
- Elimination of Core Rot: closed-cell foam does not rot or absorb water
- Localised Damage Control: closed-cell structure prevents water from migrating laterally through the deck panel
- Freeze-Thaw Resistance: synthetic foam cores resist thermal cycling and moisture better than balsa
- Weight & Structural Integrity: vacuum-bagged glass, vinylester resin, and foam coring deliver high panel stiffness and impact resistance without weight penalty or rot liability
